As a very happy user of the healing unit-frame addon VuhDo I just wanted to post here and recommend it to others, since it's fairly new and not many people seem to know about it. VuhDo looks a lot like healbot out of the box but boasts lots of extra customization options and a better menu setup. It has options for mouse-clicks and mouse-over keybindings built in. I tried it out after neither healbot or grid/clique was quite what I wanted and haven't looked back.

Anyway, sorry for the shameless plug but it really is a great addon that deserves some attention. I'm guessing there are many people who would prefer it over grid or healbot. I'm also curious to hear others opinions of it. It's downloadable from curse and other usual places.

Thanks for that. It's still early morning in Europe so I have not had a good chance to test it in a group-setting yet. I have just played around with the settings healing myself and I really like it so far. Seems to be a nice mix of Healbot and Grid/Clique with respect of features and complexity.

Here is a link to the addon:

interesting thx

How much memory and CPU is it using. How does it handle macros? Like Healbot?

Hello everybody,
I'm the author of VuhDo and new to this forum. I'm glad that some of you seem to like it :)
I'd like to answer some of the questions above:

1. VuhDo uses about 2.8 - 3 MByte of AddOn memory from the start. This may be some more than HealBot or Grid, but due to some more options and aggressive CPU load reduction it still seemed fair to me. Memory usage should not grow significantly while in normal raid situation. It may while playing around in options screen, but after leaving options this will be clent up.

2. CPU usage: I spent a lot of time optimizing CPU load (I'm using different profiling mods for that). From my experience I can say, that it takes less CPU than HealBot and Grid (equally configured) CPU usage mainly depends on your configuration (e.g. range check interval, HoT targeting)

3. You can use macros in different ways:
- Either type your macro in blizzard macro editor, then bind it to a mouse click. All you have to do is to type "vuhdo" as a replacement for the target name in macro text.
- The second variant is to let VuhDo automatically create macros. This will be done when defining mouse-over macros (Options=>Spells=>Keys) or when letting VuhDo automatically fire trinkets/instants (Options=>Spells=>Fire)

If you have any probs or suggestions, don't hesitate to tell me (on Curse or this forum)

So long
Izaak@Gilneas

Supported standards:
- LibHealComm (for incoming heals)
- CTRA/ORA2 (for setting up/receiving main tanks and for broadcasting resurrections)
- LibSharedMedia (selecting fonts, bar textures)

/edit: Yes, res-monitoring will be supported

had a look last night.. looks pretty good actually and a lot of potential, I have removed it for now until I have more time to play and get it right for me but great work! has definately been added to my bookmarks and to do list to try get it setup :)

one thing i did notice is that the buff frame stays visible all the time, can it be set to only show when someone needs a buff?

Yes, you could change (Options=>Buffs=>Colors) buff background and text opacity for "Buffs okay" to 0. Hiding the entire button is not possible, because - due to some technical restriction of SecureUnitFrames - I could only show it again while out fight. (=> no rebuffing in fight)

Just had a play with this add-on and it seems really really good. Good enough to make me seriously thinking of trying it out instead of my beloved Grid+Clique.

However, I heal alongside a tree so I need to know when someone has druid HoTs on them, but I couldn't see a way of making the add-on let me see HoT buttons for other people's HoTs - am I missing something?

Hi Tufva,
thank you. HoT display is ment for keeping track of your own HoTs only atm. I've been thinking about displaying other players HoTs myself. Just don't wanted it to look too stuffed with icons and things. But anyway it's a really good idea. Please let me know how and where you would like to see other players HoTs. The same way your HoTs are displayed? Apart from them? Additional counter? Like to see hots of other classes than druid?

Cheers
Izaak

If you have used Grid at all, it is easy to make a comparison this way. In general it is useful for any healer to know if the raid member has a HoT on them of any kind. If you can make options for these spells for anyone to see it would be great. Counters aren't important if they are another healer's HoTs, but a marker for the presence is quite useful.

Renew
Rejuvenation
Regrowth
Lifebloom
Wild Growth
Riptide

I haven't tried this yet, but just to note tracking your own hots should be capable as well with the tracking marker in a different location with color customizations. (ie. My Lifebloom vs. Lifebloom)

If these changes are made, I would actually be happy to try it out. As it stands, it is just too valuable to keep Grid so that I can track any HoTs.

Hi trismegistus,
a marker to indicate other players HoTs will be posssible I think. May take a while to implement though.

Iza,

Another Grid / Clique healer here; I gave VuhDo a try this weekend and really liked what I saw. I do have a couple of comments.

1) This is probably an extension of what others have said about seeing other people's HoTs in the raid frame. I really like the icon with countdown timer for my Riptides. Have you considered also showing Earthliving Weapon HoTs? I know Grid is able to light up an indicator square when someone gains that HoT from my heals.

2) I have a question about the Player Target panel. I assumed this was supposed to show a unit frame for whomever I had currently targeted, but I haven't been able to get this to show any unit frame at all. Is there some extra setup needed for this panel? I used to have a Clique binding for Purge which would work with my IceHUD target frame, and that was the setup I used for purging Bone Shields in the Naxx Military Quarter. It would be nice to be able to have that same sort of functionality contained within VuhDo.

3) Any chance of getting a Kel'Thuzad ice block indicator?

Hi Gerunna,
thanks for your comments.

1. Earthliving an riptide can be added to HoT display (probably next version)

2. "Player targets" seems to be a little misleading name. In fact it's a collection of your "private Maintanks".
(Maybe it's up to a certain hunter determining next target or something) It's got nothing to do with seeing
who's target of someone else.

2a) To set up player targets: Go to options=>spells und bind a click to the word "menu". Then leave options and
click on someones health bar like that. A drop down menu will open where you can select that player as "Player target"
(as well as main tank and several other parameters).

2b) To show which target a player has currently selected go to options=>Panels=>Targets and select "show" for a panel of your choice.

3) No can do. VuhDo is no boss mod and never will be. I refuse to implement any situational stuff, sorry.

/edit: Hmm I checked the HoTs display routines: Shamans "Riptide" should be displayed already... Did you enable HoT display (Options=>Panels=>HoTs)? Also I remember having seen the icon on my girl friends screen (I have no shaman myself). She's using the german client btw.

i've been playing around with the mod all morning and i think i like it so far. i was wondering if there is a way to hide the MT and pet frames when not in use, i keep a healing mod active to solo with so i don't need them to be showing while alone. another was is there a way to make my name be in the upper left corner at all times like it is on healbot?

Hi Iza, thanks for the replies.

The Riptide HoT icon is currently working for me just fine, I was just curious about adding a similar function for Earthliving. Also thanks for the pointer on the Player Target panels. I should be able then to show my own target in that panel with your setup instructions.

I can see not wanting to include situational boss mechanics into the addon (though I did notice that Grobbulus's Mutating Injection doesn't trigger a disease indicator, I assumed to prevent it being accidentally cleansed in the middle of the raid). Maybe some sort of generic, non-encounter-specific indicator for when a unit receives any non-dispellable debuff or even changing the unit color similar to the current dispellable poison/disease/magic/curse?

Hi Cathe, hi Gerunna,

@Cathe:
1. easiest way to disable MTs and pet frames atm is to save two "arrangements" in Options=>Skins with MTs/pets on/off. Then you can easily switch via right click on minimap icon. An automation would be a good idea but is not implemented yet.
2. I think you mean you want to see your heal button in the upper left corner (Or do you want your name aligned top left in the heal button?). No that's not possible and I don't think I'm gonna implement that, sorry.

@Gerunna:
1. Just uploaded v1.78 (Earthliving, Gift uf the Naaru and an indicator for other players HoTs)
2. Yes, "Mutating injection" debuff is filtered.
2. Adding a color especially for non-removable buffs sounds good, but would trigger all the time I guess. Will think about it...

Cheers
Iza

I want to thank you for creating this mod. So far my "Healing" Mods consisted of X-pearl raid frames, quartz, and visual heal. I've messed around with Grid, Clique, PitBull, and Healbot before. The first three for me, well, the less said about the setup and configuration the better and the last one lost my settings randomly. So, I healed with out them. With VuhDo I was able to shift things around with ease and on the fly, while healing an instance run. I can't wait to try it out in our 10 man naxx run tonight. Yah, that easy! So, again. Thank you for putting the time and effort into creating this mod.

I do have two questions, I poked around a bit in the configuration windows but I wasn't able to find what I was looking for. It could have had something to do with the fact that it was 4 am. *grins cheekily*

Question 1 - Is there a way to see mana bars? I like to keep track of my fellow healers mana, this is a throw back to when Lay on Hands drained all of my mana and I had to know in an instant if the other healers could cover my slack. Now I use it to let me know If I should keep bringing the Replenishment or if I can help the other healers out so they can regen some mana.

Question 2 - Is it possible to fade out of range names instead of removing them the frames all together? Big blank spots start scaring me about people being offline and if I need to start seeking replacements.

Thank you again!

~Genie

Hi Angenie,
thanks a lot.

1. Of course you can enable mana bars. Go to Options=>Panels=>Bars and check "Mana bars: show".
2. Hmm, out of range players should not be removed but faded already... You can select color/opacity for each text and background in Options=>Colors=>Modes". Check the three check marks to select having Text color, background color and/or opacity. Then click on the color swatch on the left to select color/opacity. In the color select panels you can switch from background to text then.
