Getting familiar with Holy Paladin

Good info above. As you can see there are different styles to healing 5 mans. What I do is BoL tank and pretty much heal him to build up shields and heal at same time. I mainly use HS/WoG3hp and HL unless he dips below 75% then I throw out DL. I try and position myself around raid melee so that I can start to keep them up using HR/LoD3hp. I also throw out other healing spells as mentioned above on raid knowing tank will get 75-100% of heal transfer through BoL. I only use FoL during Oh Crap moments. I try and Judge always as close to cd as possible.
HoS- used on tank always off cd to make life in pug easier.
HoSal- used on over aggressive melee/ranged to decrease aggro.
HoP- used to save a caster close to death or just to piss off melee dps if HoSal is not off cd.
AM- I use this to bump up whichever aura I have up. Generally use Devotion and Resist in 5 mans depending on which boss were on. Works great with Concentration in pvp.
GoaK(angry man) according to Kurn-used when tank is taking a ton of damage with DL/HL/WoG3hp. Plus you get a little splash damage onto melee.
AW-used when tank/raid are taking heavy damage. I'll use this in conjunction with DivPlea to get some mana back after people are healed back up.
DF- used to help with heavy raid damage in conjunction with HR.
DP- use it when I am in a position to where I am taking heaving damage. Works great on Fire damage when glyphed.
DS- oh crap bubble(mama)
Also it's very IMPORTANT to know and understand your talents, esp when it comes to certain procs that you have and should take full advantage of.
ABC- Always Be Casting heals on someone.
Now this is what works for me on 5 mans. Raiding is different do to your healing assignment etc...
Another good website is Kurns Corner http://kurn.apotheosis-now.com/
Good luck and have fun finding your style.

Thanks again for all of the advice. Spent most of my WoW time this week, practicing on Cata normals and I'm thinking I'm ready for Heroics. Reaction time is still a little slow, but at least I'm reacting. Still working on recognizing the proper time to use my cds, but that will only come through experience. Still working on my gems, but my priest is an enchanter so I should be squared away there..

Thanks again guys!

Some advice from a person who has been playing a Holy Paladin for nearly 7 years now: it's far better to get into the habit of trying to use your cooldowns too much than to not use them enough. Don't worry about looking for a proper time to use them, just use them as often as you can (sensibly, of course—don't try to Hand of Protection the tank or anything :p ). Over time, you'll begin to figure out when not to use them, and ultimately I think that will make you a better player than if you try to take the opposite route.

One of the best "non game skills" I can recommend for a new healer of any class is "Learn how to read the group". Get used to Grid/HealBot/whatever and learn how to read the state of the entire group/raid without getting scared or distracted. Learning that will help with a lot of the other things already mentioned: Which heal to use, when it is time to stick to healing assignment and when to abandon them, when it is time to Cleanse or just heal over the debuf effect, where and when to be aggressive with cool downs and so on.
